The Firm comprises a dynamic and focussed legal practice, devoted to providing comprehensive and consistently sound advice and services to its clients. With an initial focus on Commercial Law, especially Law of Patrimony (property, succession, intellectual property, trust, and obligations (contract)), the Firm since extended its areas of practice to also include Civil Litigation (including contract-breach, delict, divorce, claims against Organs of State (SA Police Service, Road Accident Fund, Department of Health, Municipalities)) and Criminal Defence Law (defending charges related to crimes against the person, property, community, and/or State/Administration of Justice).

The practice was initially established in August 2012 under the name and business of Ruveix van Coller, Attorney, Notary Conveyancer and Administrator of Estates, managed and supported by its proprietorís namesake. In September 2016, Mr. van Coller was joined by Mr. Jean Blom, and the Firm reincorporated as Van Coller Blom Incorporated, Attorneys, Notaries, Conveyancers, and Administrators of Estates. The Directors, both specialists in their respective legal fields, and backed by a team of dedicated, knowledgeable support staff, strive to afford their clients with professional, unsurpassed, and personally relevant legal assistance.


Ruveix H. van Coller

Mr. van Coller graduated from the North-West University (Potchefstroom) with both Bachelor and Master degrees in Chemical Engineering. While employed as Chemical Engineer with the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR, Biosciences), he was introduced to intellectual property law, especially patent law, leading to is enrolment for and graduation of the Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) degree from the University of South Africa.

Following his immigration to Australia in 2007, Mr. van Coller joined Pipers Patent and Trade Mark Attorneys Australia, affording him expertise in the filing and prosecution of patent, trade mark, and industrial design applications, infringement matters, and opposition, revocation, and licensing of patent rights and industrial designs. In 2009, Mr. van Coller was promoted to Practice Manager at the Brisbane-based firm, during which time he also obtained his Australian citizenship.

Subsequent to Mr. van Collerís return to South Africa, he joined Jassat Mitchell Inc., pursuing his interest in the broader field of commercial law, especially law of contract, and property. Mr. van Coller gained concurrent admittances as Attorney, Notary and Conveyancer in 2011. He eventually departed Jassat Mitchell Inc. as Associate in 2012, establishing his own practice. Mr. van Coller, apart from serving as Director presiding over all commercial matters at the Firm, also lectures at the North-West University, Faculty of Engineering.

Mr. van Coller is registered as Professional Engineer with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA), additionally being registered as Affiliate Member with both the South African Institution of Chemical Engineers (SAIChE), and the Institution of Chemical Engineers (IChemE), UK. Mr. van Coller is an admitted Attorney, Notary, Conveyancer, and registered member of the Law Society of the Northern Provinces (LSNP).


C.-Jean Blom

Following a year of management training at AngloGold Ashanti Ltd., Mr. Blom enrolled for his Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) degree at the North-West University (Potchefstroom), graduating in 2008.

Mr. Blom articled with Erasmus Jooste Inc., the oldest law firm in South Africa, second only to Deneys Reitz Inc. Mr. Blom was admitted as Attorney in 2010, serving as Personal Assistant to the directors of the firm. During this time, Mr. Blom honed his skills as trial lawyer, dealing with various civil, criminal, and labour disputes. Mr. Blom revived the firmís ailing criminal defence division, re-establishing the practiceís client base in the particular field of law.

In 2011, Mr. Blom joined Kobus Burger Attorneys, a prominent law firm celebrated in the North-West Province for its specialised legal services in litigation, and dispute resolution. Over the course of 5 years, Mr. Blom gained invaluable expertise in instituting and defending legal action, trial prosecution, sentencing, and appeal and review proceedings in various forums, including the Magistratesí, Regional, and High Courts. In 2016 Mr. Blom, now a seasoned litigator, left Kobus Burger Attorneys, accepted appointment of Director at Van Coller Blom Incorporated, where he now presides over all litigious matters.

Mr. Blom is an admitted Attorney, and registered member of the Law Society of the Northern Provinces (LSNP).
